Get Running: Spring Intervals

As the weather warms up it is officially time to get out and give the treadmill a break. This ladder workout focuses on minutes versus miles (get your watches ready) and builds to four consecutive minutes of fast running. Perform the medium-paced portions at an easily sustainable clip; the fast intervals should feel challenging.

The Workout
Warm-up: 8 to 10 minutes, easy
Run 1 minute fast, 4 minutes medium
Run 2 minutes fast, 3 minutes medium
Run 3 minutes fast, 2 minutes medium
Run 4 minutes fast, 1 minute medium
Cooldown: 6 to 8 minutes, easy
